It’s a Jungle Out There
After a day at the zoo I felt like I had a crash course in lighting control and how to dial in the correct exposure in my camera. It was a mix of low light, shadows, bright sun and dappled light through out the zoo. It was great to experiment with the camera and see how using the exposure triangle of ISO, aperture, and shutter speed in a real world situation really impacts your photos. There was never a lack of subjects and the advice to move around struck home. While there is nothing you can really do to avoid the fencing that surrounds most of the enclosures moving around gave the best chance of catching the right shot at the right moment.
Sunday Funday
Sunday was a great and unexpected experience. What was supposed to be a sleepy, rainy day ended up as brunch with bubbles and an impromptu jam session with William, Jim and Proton all playing various instruments. The power went out at First Street but that didn’t stop everyone from having a great time. Pics are in the portfolio page so feel free to look around and let me know what you think of the images.
First Street, First Shoot
It isn’t much but shot my first band. My friends, William and Jim, have only done two gigs together but they have a great chemistry. They also had Treston join them on drums and he rocked it out. The lighting was lower than I expected and I didn’t have my speedlight. But I got some before show shots before the light fell too low. I shot with my 85mm 1.8 lens and still had to jack up the ISO and slow down the shutter speed. Let me know what you think or if you have any comments for improvement let me know.
